Consul celebrates Arajet’s New York launch as a win for Dominican diaspora

New York.- Jesús Vásquez Martínez (Chu), the Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York, praised the launch of Arajet flights to New York as a significant milestone for the Dominican community in the United States. He emphasized that the new route offers more affordable and dignified travel options, breaking a long-standing trend of high airfare costs for Dominicans abroad.
In an interview with Despertar Nacional, Vásquez highlighted how Arajet’s expansion enhances air connectivity and helps strengthen ties between the Dominican diaspora and their homeland. He credited President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado for facilitating this progress through the Open Skies Agreement with the U.S., which allows Dominican carriers to expand their reach.
The consul also commended Arajet CEO Víctor Pacheco Méndez for his vision and commitment to creating a world-class airline. He concluded by stating that this achievement is not only a win for Arajet, but for the entire Dominican diaspora and a clear step forward in enhancing the country’s global image and competitiveness.
