Dominican delegation attends Regional Disability Summit in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro.- A delegation from the National Council for Disability, led by President Benny Metz, is participating in the Regional Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean on Disability, held in Rio de Janeiro from December 9 to 11. The delegation includes national board members Cristina Francisco, Melba Benjamín, Melbelly Vanderhorst, and Angel Espinal.

The summit focuses on key issues such as educational inclusion, decent employment, social protection, climate change, risk management, dignified treatment, and accessibility. It is coordinated by the Latin American Network of Organizations of People with Disabilities and their Families (RIASA), in collaboration with the Brazilian federal government, the OAS, World Bank, UNICEF, and other organizations.

This delegation will return from Brazil loaded with great information. Turning the information into visible results will be an uphill task, especially when funding is limited.
