Martine Moise urges Trump to declassify files on President Jovenel Moise’s assassination

Port-au-Prince, (EFE).- Martine Moise, widow of assassinated Haitian President Jovenel Moise, has called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to declassify FBI and State Department documents related to her husband’s murder. In a social media post featuring a photo of the Moise and Trump couples, she urged transparency, linking her late husband’s fate to his efforts to combat corruption in Haiti.

Moise recalled that her husband, who took office in 2017, pursued economic reforms that threatened oligarchs, making him a target of smear campaigns and assassination attempts. On July 7, 2021, he was tortured and killed in his private residence in Pétion-Ville by a group of mercenaries, including 17 Colombians. She herself was shot multiple times and has since survived three assassination attempts.
