Belgium.- The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Belgium, in partnership with the Embassy of Cuba, hosted a successful Cigar and Rum Night in Brussels, celebrating the cultural and economic importance of these emblematic industries. The event highlighted the artisanal craftsmanship, sustainable development, and job creation tied to the cigar and rum sectors in both countries, particularly in rural communities.
Dominican Ambassador Joan Margarita Cedano opened the evening by emphasizing that Dominican cigars and rum represent not just quality products, but a heritage passed down through generations. He spotlighted the role of women, who make up over 60% of the workforce in the Dominican tobacco industry, contributing to every stage of production with skill and innovation.
Attendees enjoyed a curated selection of premium Dominican and Cuban cigars and high-quality rums, accompanied by a warm, Caribbean ambiance. Support from major Dominican cigar brands such as Davidoff, La Aurora, Arturo Fuente, Quezada, Saga, and Chateau Diadem was instrumental in the evening’s success, with their contributions to economic growth, tradition preservation, and global prestige recognized throughout the event.
