Bill stiffens fines on illegal scrap metal sales, exports
Santo Domingo.- The Chamber of Deputies yesterday approved the bill which regulates scrap metal marketing and exports, by establishing a national exports registry during 10 years.
The initiative would also levy a fine of 50 minimum wages on companies or persons caught dealing in metals illegaly.
It also states that the companies will have to comply with the law three months after enacted.
Lower Chamber Industry and Commerce Committee chairman Alberto Atallah asked his colleague’s unanymous vote for the piece, to in his view send a message to all those who commit this criminal act.
