Agents, military nab 1 ton of drug, arresst 3 off southeast island

Santo Domingo.- The Antinarcotics Annecy (DNCD), the Air Force and the Navy seized 775 bricks presumably Sunday afternoon on a speedboat crewed by three Venezuelans, who were arrested at the scene.

Also found on the boat intercepted next to Saona Island were two satellite radios, said DNCD spokesman Dario Medrano.

The drug weighing nearly one short ton was found in 31 sacks, and will be sent to Forensics to confirm the type of narcotic.

The detainees were questioned at the La Altagracia Province Office of the Prosecutor.

The joint operation was centered at Punta Laguna, on Saona Island, the country’s most south easternmost point.
