Salcedo Carnival Tragedy: Update on how the victims who remain in health centers are doing

Santo Domingo – The National Health Service (SNS) reported that the eight-year-old child who is still in the Dr. Thelma Rosario Burn Unit is stable in a delicate condition, as are the 11 and 12-year-old children who were treated at the Arturo Grullon Hospital after being burned during the carnival held last Sunday in Salcedo.
Meanwhile, in Santo Domingo, at the Robert Reid Hospital, four adolescents remain stable and have undergone satisfactory surgeries, representing an essential step in their recovery process.
A fourth victim died
A six-year-old boy who was being assisted at the Burn Unit, Dr. Thelma Rosario, for being seriously affected by burns, became the fourth mortal victim of this tragedy.
The child had third-degree burns on 76% of his body surface. He was admitted to the Unit’s Intensive Care Unit, located at the Arturo Grullon Children’s Hospital.
He died Saturday afternoon after presenting thrombosis of the right radial artery and changes in saturation.
