Dominican Republic to host III Latin American Congress on money laundering and terrorist financing

Santo Domingo.- The Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA) and the Latin American Federation of Banks (Felaban) have announced that the III Latin American Congress on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Coplaft) will be held in the Dominican Republic for the first time.

Scheduled for October 3 and 4 at the Marriott Hotel on Abraham Lincoln Avenue, the event will feature a comprehensive agenda, including discussions on the implementation of new technologies in financial crime prevention. The congress will explore how machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping compliance functions within organizations and enhancing risk prevention efforts.

“The congress will focus on risk-based approaches to strengthen compliance programs, update attendees on the latest regulations, and discuss how financial institutions can adapt to these evolving requirements,” the ABA stated.

Additional topics will include inter-institutional collaboration and best practices for combating financial crimes, with presentations on successful strategies and collaborative efforts at regional and international levels.

The ABA noted that while the previous two editions of the congress were held virtually, this will be the first in-person event, generating significant enthusiasm among professionals in the field.
