Steel exports total $137.8 million in just seven months
Santiago, DR.- Vice President Raquel Peña announced that the steel construction industry in the Dominican Republic is creating over 2,500 direct jobs, significantly improving the quality of life for many families and communities. Speaking at Expo Acero Santiago, Peña emphasized the industry’s focus on innovation and social development, reflecting the government’s commitment to progress.
The second edition of Expo Acero Santiago concluded with the participation of 70 companies from countries including Brazil, the U.S., Spain, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Minister of Industry and Commerce, Víctor Bisonó, reported that iron product exports reached $137.8 million in the first seven months of 2024, highlighting the steel sector’s vital role in the Dominican economy. Companies like METALDOM, Grupo Estrella, and Jhonson SAS proudly displayed the “Made in the Dominican Republic” seal.
Expo Acero Santiago included talks by experts, meetings between professionals, and special recognitions for companies and individuals. Sponsors included Metaldom, Banco Popular, Banreservas, and the Utesa Convention Center. Santiago Mayor Ulises Rodríguez highlighted the city’s role in hosting events that drive economic growth and creativity.
