Protest at National Palace demands stricter measures against Haitian migration

Santo Domingo.- Last Friday, the Antigua Nueva Orden Dominicana, along with dozens of demonstrators, protested in front of the National Palace, holding banners with slogans such as “If Abinader doesn’t remove him, we will remove him,” “There is no room for two flags here,” and “No invasion of Haitians.” The group called on President Luis Abinader to implement stricter measures to curb Haitian migration into the Dominican Republic.

The protest began on 27 de Febrero Avenue and moved to the National Palace, led by Angelo Vasquez, who previously urged citizens to join the march from the Juan Bosch Metro station to express their opposition to illegal Haitian immigration.

The demonstration coincides with President Abinader’s recent address at the UN General Assembly, where he emphasized that stabilizing Haiti is a “strategic necessity” for regional security and called on the international community to engage more actively. The protest and the president’s stance reflect growing concerns over the Haitian migration crisis and its impact on the Dominican Republic.
