Cacicazgos residents protest Tax Reform for fourth consecutive day
Santo Domingo.- For the fourth consecutive day, residents of the Cacicazgos sector have been protesting against the government’s proposed tax reform. Demonstrators have been using “cacerolazos” (banging pots and pans) to express concern that the reform will disproportionately impact the middle class and lower-income groups.
The protests began shortly after the government’s announcement of the new fiscal measures. Despite the backlash, the government has defended the reform as essential for maintaining fiscal sustainability and supporting investment in education, health, and security.
