Santiago and Fort Myers strengthen collaborative ties

Santiago de los Caballeros, DR.- In a significant gesture of brotherhood, Ulises Rodríguez, Mayor of Santiago, welcomed Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson to strengthen cooperation between the two cities. Highlighting Santiago’s robust economic growth—5% nationally and 7% provincially—Rodríguez emphasized the Dominican Republic’s democratic stability and cultural connections with the U.S. He expressed aspirations to deepen ties with Fort Myers, leveraging shared historical and cultural bonds. “The United States has been a key partner, and we aim to replicate its successful integration model between our sister cities,” Rodríguez noted.
Recognition and Commitment to Collaboration
Mayor Anderson expressed gratitude for the warm reception and affirmed his dedication to fostering mutual development. As a token of goodwill, he presented the key to Fort Myers to Rodríguez, symbolizing their commitment to cooperation. Anderson was also honored as a “Distinguished Visitor” of Santiago through Act No. 21-24, unanimously approved by the Santiago Council of Aldermen. The recognition was presented by Council President Cholo D’Oleo, alongside Rodríguez and Municipal Secretary Luis José Cruz, during a heartfelt ceremony underscoring the cities’ enduring friendship.
