Canadian Embassy sponsors 6th lifesaving program in the Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- The PuntaCana Office of the Canadian Embassy is pleased to announced the sixth AdultLifeguard Program to be held from October 19 to 31 at the Occidental GrandPunta Cana.
To date, thanks tothis program, more than 800 people have been trained nationwide in basic andadvanced techniques of water rescue and first aid, including 16 newly assignedlifesavers to Macao Beach.

The Lifeguard Programbegan in 2010 in Puerto Plata, with the support of the honorary Consulate ofCanada in that province. It was then implemented in Punta Cana in 2010 when theneed was identified to train staff from the tourist areas in rescue measuresand first aid to reduce deaths caused by drowning.
