Dominican Govt. recognizes Honduras’ reelected president, EFE reports
Tegucigalpa, Honduras.- The Dominican Republic on Thurs. recognized and congratulated Honduras president Juan Orlando Hernández, reelected in the Nov. 26, 2017 polls, EFE reports.
“Receive the warmest congratulations, on behalf of the Dominican people, the Government and my own, on the occasion of your re-election as president of the Republic of Honduras,” said Dominican counterpart Danilo Medina in a letter released in the Honduran capital, quoted by the wire service.
“it is an opportunity to wish that its government program contributes to the strengthening of democracy, to the maintenance of peace and harmony among all Hondurans and to a greater economic development of that sister nation,” the letter adds.
Hernandez, who took office on Jan. 27, 2014, sought reelection with the ruling National Party, in hard-fought polls that opposition candidate, Salvador Nasralla, who has yet to recognize the results on claims of “fraud.”
