Electoral Board says 7.6M Dominicans can vote in 2020

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) on Tues. said 7.6 million Dominicans are eligible to vote in the 2020 general elections, which is 575,623 more than the 6.8 million in the 2016 polls.

Upon presenting the administrative calendar and legal deadlines for the nest electoral processes, JCE national elections director Mario Núñez said of that total, there are 2.7 million in the northern zone, 2.5 in the National District, 1.3 in the south, and 863.530 in the east.

In that regard JCE Information technology director Miguel Ángel García said that Greater Santo Domingo, Santiago and San Cristóbal account for 50% of the registered voters

He added that of the 7.6 million voters, 90.000 are members of the military; and 32,559 are naturalized foreigners. “The highest number of voters is aged between 18 and 25, which represents a total of 1,376,561 young people, that is,18% of the total by age range.”
