Beware of Odebrecht CEO’s ‘hush’ visit, watchdog warns

Santo Domingo.- The National Committee to Combat Climate Change, CNLCC, on Mon. said Odebrecht president, Luciano Nitrini Guidolin, will arrive at 4pm at Las Americas Airport and immediately go to the National Palace to meet with president Danilo Medina.

“Although the authorities have kept hermetic silence on this meeting, CNLCC sources have confirmed that it will occur around 5pm today, depending on the time taken to transfer Guidolin from the Las Americas Airport to the National Palace,” it said in a statement.

The watchdog group asks the media, public opinion and all the people to keep abreast of this meeting, which the authorities “have insisted on keeping it secret.”

“What president Danilo Medina will discuss with the president of Odebrecht, Guidolin, are the interests of the nation, the money that comes out of all the taxpayers and the immediate future of one of the highest investments of all our history that is Punta Catalina, ” it said.

“The CNLCC reproached the lack of transparency with which this encounter as everything related to the construction of the Punta Catalina coal plants, from the tender to the recent announcement of the creation of the contingency fund of US$336.0 million.”
