Dominican Republic, Xcoal strike US$39.0M deal

Santo Domingo.- The State Electric Utility (CDEEE) on Monday signed a contract with the US-based company Xcoal Energy & Resources, to buy 462,000 metric tons of coal for the test runs of the first unit of the Punta Catalina power plant in Peravia province (south).

The contract of around  US$39.0 million was signed in the presence of US ambassador, Robin Bernstein, who congratulated utility CEO Ruben Jiménez Bichara for the successful bidding process.

She also congratulated Xcoal Energy representative Victor Manuel Rocha.

Xcoal Energy will supply from November to March, 198,000 tons of type A coal for US$70.45 and 264,000 tons of type B for US$91.95 per ton.
