Puerto Plata.- The National Emergency and Security System 9-1-1 coordinated assistance for three of the four people injured in a traffic accident that occurred on the Puerto Plata-Navarrete highway near the tunnel on Tuesday morning. The accident involved two SUVs, and four ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport the victims to nearby health centers.
In addition to the medical response, units from the National Police, the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transport (Digesett), the Fire Department, and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) were sent to manage traffic and assist with the situation. The accident, which occurred at 7:08 a.m., led to a significant traffic jam on the highway.
According to a witness, the accident happened when one of the drivers attempted to overtake another vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision.
