Disabled Dominicans can access UN fund for the first time

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic will benefit from a special fund of the UN Convention for Persons with Disabilities for the first time, UN Development Program (UNDP) local representative Juliana Mermet revealed Wed.

Speaking to deliver the stamp of Good Inclusive Practices for People with Disabilities “RD Includes” with 53 entities hosted by the National Disability Council, Mermet said they’ll work three vital modules including the problems that the disabled have to face

She said there’s an obligation to respond to that sector from the State and within the perspectives of the United Nations.

“We are going to work with the independent living module, school inclusion, with the help of UNICEF and the employment inclusion module and everything that has to do with the labor market for people with disabilities,” Mermet said.
