US$6.9M+ organic pineapple plantation eyes sales on Amazon

Santo Domingo.- Agriculture minister Osmar Benítez on Tues. said  the company Shared-X Impact Farm of the Las Carolinas Free Zone Park is installing an organic pineapple plantation in eastern Monte Plata province at an initial cost of over US$6.9 million.

The official said the company produces and exports fruit, has the largest pineapple plantation Dominican Republic and in around two months, will finish construction of a packing plant, with a cost of more than 10 million dollars, “will become in the largest in the world in this type of production.”

Benítez said among the advantage the country offers to investment is that the plant will be the first to sell pineapples online through Amazon, “which places the Dominican Republic in an excellent innovative and competitive market.”
