Santo Domingo.- A crash of the toll collection system at Las Américas highway unleashed chaos and a traffic jam longer than an hour-and-a half for motorists headed to the eastern part of the country.

Outlet Hoy reports that Las Americas automated toll collection system crashed around 5: 45am and was restored at 7:23am.

Especially hit were the trucks loaded with products hauled to and from the Las Américas cargo terminal, free zones, Caucedo Port and other East region facilities.

The drivers of public and tourist transport buses and other vehicles headed to the Las Americas Airport were also forced to grin and bear it.
