PUERTO PLATA.- Puerto Rican cattle ranchers and the Animal Protection Brigade agreed to work together to prevent stray animals from continuing to cause accidents on the roads of this jurisdiction.
The agreement was made by Milton Núñez Redondo who chairs the Puerto Plata Central Livestock Association (AGPPC) and Elvin Victoria Castillo who is the regional director for the Northern Zone of the Animal Protection Brigade (BPA).
Victoria Castillo said that the Animal Protection Brigade (BPA) operating in Puerto Plata province is covered by Law 248-12 and has about 55 volunteers who remove animals from public roads to prevent traffic accidents.
He explained that he is currently providing training that covers the modules of investigation of traffic accidents with animals, handling of different types of animals, animal health and conflict management.
Victoria Castillo welcomed the collaboration offered by the association of ranchers in order to prevent the vagrancy of cows and other stray animals causing accidents and that they will also persecute people who mistreat animals through negligence or cruelty.
