Punta Catalina Unit 2 is hooked to the grid for the first time

Santo Domingo.– The second unit of the Punta Catalina power plant was on Sun. connected to the grid for its first generation test, with a contribution of 21 megawatts and then taken out to review results.

Presidency spokesman, Roberto Rodríguez Marchena, said the unit was synchronized to the system at 4:47pm and injected energy into the system for the first time.

He said that shortly after it was disconnected to inject hydrogen and prepare it to re-synchronize it on Wednesday.

The first unit, which has been under tests for about three months, is also offline for technical review.
