Survey: 68.8% of women have suffered some kind of violence

Santo Domingo.- A standardized survey reveals that, of 4,083 women between the ages of 15 and 29, 68.8% have suffered some kind of violence throughout their lives and in all social strata, which impacts their rights, health and economy, as well as the social wellbeing of their family and their community.

The Experimental Survey on the Situation of Women (ENESIM-2018), conducted by the National Statistics Office (ONE) with the financial support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Women, also found that around two out of five women have been victims of violence in that same age range, or 39.2%.

The investigation conditions the prevalence of violence against women to the existence of at least one event of some type of violence, including psychological, physical, sexual, economic and patrimonial.
