Senate approves US$155M for Dominican electricity sector

Santo Domingo.- The Senate on Fri. approved a US$155 million loan for the electricity sector to be carried out by the Dominican State Electric Utility’s (CDEEE) Execution Unit.

The initiative was submitted on February 13 last year by then president, Danilo Medina, and financing signed by the Dominican State with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) aimed at “increasing the operational efficiency” of Edesur.

Senate Finance Commission president, Faride Raful, said the agreement has a “fatal deadline,” which if not approved, it would expire.
