Electoral Board says elections calendar on track

Santo Domingo.- Sunday’s elections for the Presidency and overseas deputies are practically ready, said Central Electoral Board president Roberto Rosario on Sunday.

He said the JCE has left nothing to chance and will “bolster the works” to educate internal management personnel and receive the international observers during the first three days this week.

Quoted by hoy.com.do, the official said there’ll be 147 observers from international organizations and embassies of various countries, many of whom are already in the country.

Rosario said all offices are busy issuing voter I.D. duplicates for the many citizens who have requested them before May 18 when the deadline expires.

He said at 11am Thursday the JCE Plenary will receive a delegation of observers from the Organization of American States (OAS) headed by Uruguay ex president Tabaré Vázquez.
