Pollster “coughs up” RD$1.0M bet on losing candidate

Santo Domingo.- Pollster Bendixen & Amandi president Sergio Bendixen yesterday “coughed up” the RD$1.0 million he wagered on his survey which had ex president Hipólito Mejía as the winner in Sunday’s election.

Dominican League Against Cancer president Julie Guerra confirmed he information.

“We received an email (from Bendixen) this morning asking for our account number to transfer US$25,000 and we checked and we verified that it was already deposited,” Guerra said, as quoted by diariolibre.com.

She said they’re extremely thankful "because we need the funds for the patients of the Oncology Institute.”
