Top prosecutor surprisingly resigns “irrevocably”

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez surprisingly announced his “irrevocable” resignation effective August 16, in a letter to president Leonel Fernandez yesterday.

“Courteously, after saluting I direct myself to you in occasion of presenting my irrevocable resignation to the position of General Solicitor of the Republic, as of August 16 this year,” the missive says.

Jimenez states his gratitude to the President for the honor “to serve the country from those delicate public functions.”

“Thank you President for having allowed me to construct an independent Public Ministry, which nowadays counts with more than 600 career prosecutors.”
