Abinader assures that he is complying with the Constitution and the laws

President Luis Abinader spoke from Santiago.

Santiago, DR

President Luis Abinader said yesterday that what he has been doing and will continue to do is to comply with the Constitution and the laws because his only commitment is to the Dominican people. The president reacted when journalists asked him about the deportations of illegal Haitians.

“When I was sworn in, I swore to comply with the Dominican Constitution and Dominican laws and what I am doing is that and what I will continue to do is that because my commitment is only to the Dominican people,” said the head of state.

Abinader referred to the subject after participating in the “Christmas of Change” social program held in the Cienfuegos multi-purpose hall in the Santiago Oeste municipal district. In this activity, the president expressed that he would continue working to develop this community. He also exhausted other topics of his broad agenda yesterday in Santiago.

Other activity

Earlier in the day, President Abinader attended the commemoration of Casa Bermudez on the 170th anniversary of Bermudez Rum, a drink that has remained in Dominican hands for several generations, climbing in the popular taste to elevate it to a country brand.

Showing satisfaction for the celebration of almost two centuries since the birth of the brand, the president of the board of directors, Carlos Bermúdez, explained that Ron Bermúdez had become a tradition of Dominicans who continue to consume it, making it part of their daily lives.
