Retired general linked to Puerto Rican kingpin blames ex Police Chief

Santo Domingo.- Major General (r) Jose Luis Dominguez Castillo on Tuesday appeared before the National District Office of the Prosecutor to state his willingness to be questioned into his alleged link with Puerto Rican kingpin Jose Figueroa Agosto.

Dominguez said statements by Sobeida Felix, a money laundering convict and Figueroa’s paramour, seek to tarnish his name and blamed the "smear campaign" on, former National Police chief Rafael Guillermo Guzman Fermin. "This smear campaign was intensified during Guzman’s tenure as police chief from 2007 to 2010."

He called the former chief of police the chief architect of the allegations against him, and questioned the still active general’s actions during those three years, when Figueroa openly walked Dominican streets.

Domínguez added that the former Police Chief sought to instigate mistrust among the senior police officials who could’ve been his successors. "They (police chief) understand that is a farm or an heritance of the post."
