Dominican chef chosen as a member of the US culinary diplomatic corps

The United States has chosen the 80 most influential chefs and restaurateurs in the country, who will now serve as the nation’s Diplomatic Culinary Corps, participating in programs and events on behalf of the Department of State in the United States abroad to foster cultural exchange. Chef Daniella Senior Alvarez, the only Dominican on this team, is the owner of the Michelin-starred Bresca restaurant, Serenata, one of the 20 best bars in the United States, and Colada. Shop, which already has five locations around Washington D.C., the capital of the United States.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for my hard work and dedication to my craft. Representing the United States on diplomatic missions as a chef and restaurateur is an honor, and I am honored to be a part of the program. “This will be a fantastic opportunity to show the world the diversity and richness of Caribbean cuisine,” Daniella said. Last week’s White House event was attended by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, as well as other notable chefs such as Spain’s José Andrés.

The Diplomatic Culinary Association recognizes and employs food, hospitality, and culinary expertise as diplomatic tools for engaging foreign dignitaries, bridging cultures, and strengthening relationships with civil society.
