Dominican Republic court hears a fugitive’s request

Santo Domingo.- A son of the Spanish drug trafficking drug trafficking suspect Arturo del Tiempo yesterday the asked judge who heads the hearings on the auction of his father’s luxury condo building Torre Atiemar, to halt the process until the case is heard in Spain.

The proceeding in the National District 5th Commercial Chamber with judge Katia Gomez presiding seemed normal, until the press realized that the son, also named Arturo del Tiempo, has been a fugitive since his father’s arrest.

The judge said the court will rule on the fugitive’s request, made through his lawyer Quirico Escobar, on February 24.

Meanwhile the lawyers Fabiola Medina and Durosky Mazara, who represent the plaintiff Reservas Bank, asked the court to rule against the request and allow the auction to proceed.

Del Tiempo’s father is being held in a jail in Barcelona, Spain.
