U.S. fugitive saved by Supreme Court, arrested on gruesome murders

SANTO DOMINGO. – The National Police and the San Cristóbal Office of the Prosecutor arrested the businessman Winston Rizik Rodriguez alias “El Don” and “El Gallero” (the cockfighter) in connection with the murder of two young men whose dismembered bodies were found in Nizao and Palenque in that province.

Rizik, wanted in extradition by the United States on drug trafficking charges, a request denied by the Supreme Court, is being interrogated by San Cristóbal prosecutor Faustino Pulinario, in connection with the murder of Vladimir Paulino Consuegra and Marcos Douglas Figueroa, whose bodies were found beheaded and chopped up in the town of Nizao.

Rizik’s arrest comes just hours after Bertinio Solano, also charged in the homicide of both men in an alleged drugs shakedown, blamed him for the killings.
