Agents seize 30 packets of drug on plane headed to Germany

Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Wednesday said it seized 30 packages presumably cocaine or heroin Tuesday night inside a plane headed to Germany, from Punta Cana international Airport, eastern Altagracia province.

It said the drug was already aboard Air Berlin airline flight BVE 7325 bound for Germany, which was subjected to a search.

"It was specifically in a suitcase with the crew’s baggage in the plane’s cargo hold," said DNCD spokeswoman Jacqueline Lamarche, who added that after seizing the suitcase, antinarcotics agents took it to the screening room’s X-ray machine, where a suspicious image was detected.
