Junot Diaz a finalist for the U.S. National Book Award, AP reports

NEW YORK– Pulitzer Prize winner Junot Diaz, Robert Caro and the late Anthony Shadid figure among the finalists for the annual United States National Book Award, the AP reports.

The list of nominees announced Wednesday also includes Dave Eggers and, the novelist Louise Erdrich and the authors of the documentary Anne Applebaum and Katherine Boo. Twenty writers, five in each of the four categories, were selected. Winners will be announced November 14.

Dominican-born Diaz, author of “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao,” was nominated for "This is How You Lose Her," a series of love stories.
