Resolution paves way for thousands of Dominicans to get a pension

Santo Domingo.- A draft resolution from the National Social Security Council (CNSS) approved July 18 sets forth the procedure for thousands of Dominicans to obtain an old age, disability or survival pension, its director Rafael Perez Modesto announced Monday .

"With the adoption of this regulation, the CNSS provides the basis to gradually solve the social debt pending for years with Dominican society’s most vulnerable sectors. These pensions of the subsidized formula are part of a general policy aimed at reducing levels of poverty in the country," he said.

Perez said the approval of the document is a step forward in bolstering Dominican Republic’s Social Security System, while complying with the provisions of Social Security Law 87-01.
