Five agents linked to airport drug bust off to jail

Santo Domingo.- A Santo Domingo Province judge sent two Antinarcotics agents and three of the Airport Security Corp to Najayo prison for three months, charged in connection with the two suitcases with 44.9 kilos of chloral-hydrate cocaine seized last week.

The temporary imprisonment was issued at the request of the Office of the Prosecutor against CESA Army 2nd lieutenant Ramon Santana, the end the same institution, Edwin Oscar Moquete, Air Force corporal Henry Garcia Cabrera, DNCD agent Cirilo Eduardo Márquez and Air Force 2nd lieutenant Francisco Alberto Burgos Garcia.

Santo Domingo prosecutors Lorenzo Eduardo Torres, Florentino Sanchez and Winston Gutiérrez said agents facilitated the transfer of the two suitcases loaded with the drug on October 17, property of Claudio Morlandi, who is still on the loose. They said a video camera filmed the entire process and the alleged accomplices’ movements.
