Tourism Police busts gang stole cars in Colonial Zone

Santo Domingo.- The Tourism Police (Politur) on Friday announced the bust of a ring of car thieves in the capital’s Ciudad Nueva and Colonial Zone, arresting two alleged members, while others managed to flee to the sprawling nearby barrio ??Villa Francisca .

Politur director Amilcar Fernandez said Robert Mancebo and Francisco Cordero were arrested and then escorted to the Police Vehicle Recovery Dept.

The official said the arrest of the two men came after a high speed chase that began in the Colonial Zone and were intercepted at the Can Carlos sector. “Those arrested were traveling in a car that was delivered to National Police authorities.

He said the other suspects escaped in Toyota Corolla, tag A-5976l4.

Fernández said Politur is on the lookout for the other suspected car thieves including a Dutch citizen still on the loose, adding that they are being actively sought since Thursday night at the Colonial Zone and Ciudad Nueva.
