Customs stll mum on retained Barrick Gold cargo, one week after

Santo Domingo.- Although it has been a week since Customs retained a shipment to determine if it contained gold of silver and which Barrick Gold labeled as limestone, the Agency has yet to not receive any results.

A source quoted by hoy.com.do said the Canadian firm which operates the gold mine at Pueblo Viejo, Cotuí, had planned export shipment #29 today Tuesday.

Customs technicians had taken samples from six tanks retained for more than one month -which Barrick listed as limestone from Portugal- and sent to labs in the United States and Spain.

And despite that samples were also sent to Dominican labs, Customs has yet to get any results, to local media report.
