Samana’s international airports to stage 2 days of drills

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican airports management company (Aerodom) informed the Samaná province (northeast) communities near the international airports of Catey (AISA), and Arroyo Barril, that it will stage an aeronautical emergency drill in both terminals today Tuesday and tomorrow Wednesday.

It said ambulances and firefighting units will be circulating in those zones, with the occasional use of simulated fires, and asks residents not to be alarmed.

Aerodom said the drills adhere to norms and methods established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (OACI) and the local Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), and look to test the terminals’ procedures, equipment and personnel, as well as their capacity to respond to potential aeronautical emergencies.
