Spanish Foreign Minister: “Its necessary for the international community to pay attention to Haiti”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, José Manuel Albares Bueno, arrived in Santo Domingo to attend the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit. During a press conference, he mentioned that he had discussions with various counterparts, including the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, to provide assistance to Haiti. The country has been facing a political, economic, and security crisis for several years, and Albares emphasized the importance of the international community’s support for Haiti.

He further stated that Spain is committed to aiding Haiti, and despite the violence and kidnappings, the Spanish embassy has remained open.

Albares noted that the director of the Spanish Cooperation Agency is scheduled to visit Haiti soon, and an essential cooperation package is being planned for the country.
