Driver who was transporting 23 illegal immigrants to the Dominican Republic was arrested

The Preventive and Criminal Investigation Members (DICRIM) of the National Police arrested the driver of an SUV on Sunday for allegedly illegally transporting 23 Haitian citizens to the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. Yodauris Wilton Castro Popoter was reported to have picked up the undocumented foreigners in Dajabón. The group consisted of 14 men, five women, and four children who were allegedly charged 4,500 pesos per person.

Castro Popoter was driving a red Toyota Runner jeep with license plate G403341 at the time of the arrest, and the vehicle was seized by the police. He will be brought to justice in the next few hours, while the Haitians will be sent to the General Directorate of Migration for the necessary legal procedures.
