Las Terrenas power company wants probe into sabotage

LAS TERRENAS, Dominican Republic. – The power lines recently installed to take energy to several tourism projects of the town El Limon have been sabotaged four rimes since December 31.

The latest vandalism occurred Saturday night unleashing a four hour blackout in the northern part of Samaná Peninsula, including Las Terrenas, El Limon, and the beach towns Playa Bonita and Cosón, home to several resorts.

The president of the power company Las Terrenas Luz y Fuerza, Jose Orsini Bosch, asked the Police to investigate the manager of their competitor, the company Progreso El Limon, Hilario Pujols, whom he said has opposed the installation of the power lines.

Orsini said he sent the Police and the Minister of Tourism a letter denouncing the repeated sabotage in the zone.
