Ex President’s close collaborator to be charged with embezzlement

Santo Domingo.- The Civic Movement Citizens Against Corruption (C3) announced Wednesday that it will seek criminal the prosecution of senator Felix Bautista, on charges of "serious administrative corruption."

"The crime is the alleged hiring of temporary workers to clean roads for which he spent around RD$39.0 million in 2008 in the State Works Supervising Engineers Office, however, according to an Accounts Chamber audit there’s no assurance that such money has been spent on temporary staff, and that money’s whereabouts is unclear. Said Senator will be charged with embezzlement,” the C3 said.

The complaint against the close collaborator of former president Leonel Fernandez will be filed at the Office of the Justice Minister at 10am today.
