US not interested in extraditing Figueroa case suspect, Justice chief says

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez affirmed Monday that the United States Government isn’t interested in the extradition of Eddy Brito, implicated in the Puerto Rican murder convict Jose Figueroa Agosto’s drug trafficking network.

He said so far there’s only speculation regarding the American authorities’ alleged request for Brito’s extradition. “In the Justice Ministry we don’t have anything on that case; it’s nothing more than speculations and nothing else.”

In another topic, Jiménez the report by a U.S. State Department official regarding trafficking with people in the country doesn’t correspond with reality

U.S. State Department human trafficking official Luis CdeBaca threatened Dominican Republic with penalties for its alleged lack of commitment to fight people traffickers. “If he (CdeBaca) knew Dominican Republic’s laws he would know that we have a systematic attack against the people traffickers. What that American official says isn’t so.”
