Gay activist is new U.S. Ambassador to Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- James “Wally” Brewster Jr., a top executive for a Chicago-based consulting firm who is active in the LGBT community, was nominated Friday by President Barack Obama to be U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, U.S. media report.

The outlets report that the nominee is senior managing partner for SB&K Global, described by the White House as a brand strategy and consumer dynamics consulting firm based in Chicago.

Brewster replaces the also activist Raul Yzaguirre, rooted in the U.S. migrant labor movement, who resigned the post two weeks ago.
