Police look for woman rented SUV used to flee after prison assault

Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry on Thursday announced it has identified the woman who had rented the SUV used by perpetrators to escape after an attempted jailbreak at Najayo prison last Friday, when six people died.

Justice Ministry inspector general Bolivar Sanchez said the woman, identified as Rosa Maria Martinez, has a U.S. passport, though her name doesn’t figure in any record in the Dominican Republic.

He said the vehicle was rented October 21 at the OAR rent-a-car, some 15 kilometers north of the capital on the Duarte Highway.

He said the woman is being investigated hiding since the incident, which claimed the lives of four inmates and those of prison officers Miltiades Casanova and Etalin Amarante.
