Agents seize 35 packages of cocaine in Manzanillo on freighter from Colombia

Santo Domingo.- The Antinarcotics Agency (DNCD) on Sunday seized 35 packages of cocaine on a freighter that arrived from Colombia and anchored at Manzanillo Port, Montecristi (northwest), and arrested one Colombian and an Ukrainian who’s the boat’s captain.

DNCD said it arrested the Ukrainian Alyeyev Roman, and the Colombian Jorfe Eliécer Cordoba on the ship “Summer Meadow,” registered in the Bahamas, which had set sail several days ago from the Colombian Port of Santa Marta, and whose final destination was Antwerp, Belgium.

It adds that “Cordoba was a stowaway in the ship” and which in addition to the 35 packages of cocaine, cell phones, phone call cards, GPS, backpacks, water, medicine, diving gear and inflatable floaters were also seized.
