First Family kicks off Christmas

Santo Domingo.- Wonder and joy reigned Monday night when president Danilo Medina, his family and Santo Domingo mayor Roberto Salcedo flipped the switch on the lights for this year’s Bright Christmas at Iberoamerica Park, in the heart of the capital.

The activity began when a choir struck up the Bright Christmas carol.

Salcedo said the people’s love and dedication made the dream of the 50 million-light Bright Christmas spectacle possible, which attracted more than 3 million Dominicans last year.

First lady Candida Montilla and first daughters Sibely and Vanessa accompanied the Head of State in the event held in the Park’s recently concluded 2,600-people Grand Amphitheater and an ice rink.
