Fake bomb threat at US Embassy scrambles SWAT teams

Santo Domingo.- An alleged bomb threat had caused tension in the area around the US Embassy in the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, where Police SWAT and Special Operations teams had cordoned off the site at Leopoldo Navarro and Cesar Nicolas Penson streets.

Two Police generals were inside the embassy, though no official information on the alleged threat have been issued.

The threat was originally reported as against the offices of the US Consulate a few blocks west on Penson St, but the operation is now being wrapped up at the Embassy.
